Welcome to

Grade One French Immersion

February 2012!

February is a month chock full of celebrations and activities!!

Bonhomme Carnaval will be visiting St. Edward for Carnaval Week: Feb 6th - Feb 10th! Carnaval will kick-off with "chef ŕ l'école" on Monday and Tuesday. MMMM! Acadian food and French culture! http://chefsuzanne.ca/

Here's a quick reference for the Class Spirit Days.
Mon: Inside-out; Tues: Pyjama; Wed: Beach; Thurs: Scarf & tuque; Fri: Crazy Hair

We'll play postman on the 14th to celebrate Valentines Day!

On February 15th, we are hoping to have a class party to celebrate our 100th day of school. Lots of fun counting!

Math and Science complement each other this month.

The children will explore 2 and 3 dimensional shapes and solids in math. They will be bringing home a foldable with all the shapes but here are "les solides" for those who like to colour.

In science, we are studying "les structures". We will be looking at how form follows function and what materials might be used. For a sneak preview...

Capping off these units will be a very special workshop by U-Can-Do-It, a highly successful in-class carpentry program.

Of course, the children are most eager to share their new puppet show! Over the next week, they will be bringing home their scripts and their paper puppets to perform La Poule Maboule for their favourite audience! I think you will delight in their reading and acting ability!

Hope that both parents and children are having fun exploring the web sites and the games in the links below.
